Health & Safety Policy

EDEMX ENERGY INTERNATIONAL LIMITED is constantly focusing on ways to implement and make continuous improvement towards health and safety in the organization. EDEMX is fully committed to implement an effective Safety Management System that covers our works / operations / services that we render to our CLIENT.

EDEMX objectives are to;

  • Safeguard the Health and safety of our employees, all personnel and all communities who may be affected by our activities.
  • Mitigate the exposure to risks in all areas of operations on the basis that any incident can be prevented.
  • Promote a culture where all personnel are aware of the risks inherent to our activities and assume responsibility for their mitigation.
  • Plan and implement response measures to deal with hazards . and emergencies.

To achieve these objectives, our actions consist of:

  • Planning, implementing, reviewing and continually improving our Health and Safety Management System.
  • Enabling and promoting pro – active methods for identification, investigation, communication and mitigation of risks;
  • Providing resources necessary for a Health and Safety management system more and more efficient.

Security

EDEMX ENERGY have it as a policy and function to manage Security Affairs as an integral part of overall CASHES program and indeed part of the company business so as to minimize the number of security related incidents for all personnel, clients and third party personnel involved in her operations. In order to ensure the security of personnel, equipment and material in all our operations; EDEMX ENERGY maintains a combined team of locally trained security guards. This security provision is not limited to project sites alone but also extended to all equipment, personnel and materials in transit.

  • Essential work gadgets such as walkie-talkie, torches, and uniforms shall be provided to enhance their services.
  • Independent security training shall be organized from time to time to update the workers in security measures.
  • Adequate security devices such as demobilizing and radio equipment shall be provided in project vehicle and other equipment.
  • All security defaults shall be reported, investigated and action taken to prevent re-occurrence.
  • ID cards/gate pass shall be provided for all BABLINK personnel, client, contractors and visitors as part of security measure.
  • EDEMX ENERGY shall put in place CRISIS MANAGEMENT PLAN developed, written and tested for the safety of personnel and work equipment.

EDEMX ENERGY shall provide and establish adequate security in the following areas

  • Security supervisor
  • Man guarding (day guarding plus watchman)

Environmental

EDEMX ENERGY shall protect and preserve the environment within its operation. To achieve this:

  • The workforce shall ensure that company operations do not have any adverse effect on the air, water, soil, plant and animals within work environment.
  • Waste receptacle shall be color coded
  • All wastes generated when executing projects are collected, segregated, treated and disposed off in such a way as not to have impact on the environment.
  • Regular environmental/waste management audit shall be conducted.
  • All operations shall be carried out in conformity with National laws and regulations on environmental sustainability.
  • Daily clean-up shall be conducted to ensure all debris and obstructions are removed to prevent injuries to lives and preserve the order of the habitat.
  • At the completion of any activity, our ultimate goal is to leave the environment in a tidy and acceptable state.

Marine Operations

It is the policy of EDEMX ENERGY to carry out marine operations strictly within existing marine regulations and guidelines applicable in the marine industry, to ensure the safety crew members, passengers and other third parties.

In pursuance of the above mentioned, the following must be adhered to:

  • All EDEMX and Client’s marine procedures shall be applied in all operations.
  • Competent marine personnel shall be employed to supervise marine operations.
  • No night journeys on inland waterways between 1800 hours and 0600 hours except in cases of emergencies involving significant threat to life or property.
  • Entire crew members and visitors that come on board shall use life jackets/vests.
  • All passengers shall be briefed on marine safety.
  • A log book or register shall be completed for all trips and maintained.
  • Life saving and firefighting equipment on board shall be regularly checked and kept in top working condition at all times.
  • Good radio communication network manned 24 hours shall be part of contingency planning.
  • Any marine activity, which is not in agreement with this policy, shall not be started or continued.

Nigerian Content Plan

EDEMX’s strategy in Nigeria has always been based on a strong commitment to creating value to local economy and society, through the promotion of Local Content. Local content development is a key element to the success of EDEMX ENERGY INTERNATIONAL LIMITED.

 

  • This approach is consistent with COMPANY’s objectives in terms of bringing together business needs plus near and long – term benefits to the community; it includes providing education and training, using local individuals and suppliers to the fullest possible extent with the consideration for competitiveness and capability, and developing local infrastructure.
  • The Nigerian Content Policy seeks to promote a framework that guarantees active preparation of Nigerians in oil and gas activities without compromising standards. The policy also focuses on the promotion of value addition in Nigeria through the utilization of local raw materials, products and services in order to stimulate growth of indigenous capacity.
  • Ever since the establishment of EDEMX in Nigeria, we have made significant investment in facilities, equipment and training of local employees. Currently, Nigerian Nationals represent 100% of the workforce in the organization. The EDEMX’s presence and commitment have and will continue to add to the Nigerian economy whilst continuing to evolve and develop new opportunities for local content.
  • In pursuant of the Federal Government policy to provide opportunities for Nigerian companies and development of local expertise, EDEMX ENERGY has established a department that manages the Nigerian Content Development.
  • EDEMX shall ensure that it always fulfil the following obligation as part of its Nigerian Content Plan:
  • Utilizing qualified local personnel to perform work
  • Procuring materials and services from local businesses
